Growing up I had my Big Wheel that I loved playing with, injuries aside. I really like what Huffy has done to update the trusty Big Wheel in the Huffy Green Machine. My son plays football and usually has the rest of the line over during the week, so these are not the smallest of kids playing on this, but it has remained safe while they have fun rolling down the street. The best part about the Green Monster, in my opinion, is that the seat is adjustable to the point where my 6 year old daughter can slide it up to reach the peddles, while I can slide it back and sit in it myself. It is not every day that my daughter, son, and I can all play on the same contraption. My wife would fit on it as well, if she ever decides to ride one. The ride keeps a very low center of gravity and the rear wheels are quite wide, which does the trick in preventing the driver from flipping him or herself over for a face full of road. Of course, this would not be a true Big Wheel without the ability to see how cool you can perform a spinout, and this Green Monster scores an A+ in that regard. The secret behind that is a combination of the big wheel in front has the traction, the tires in the rear being wide and slick, and the steering handles that you control in the middle. Just get a head of steam and then yank them in opposite directions, and you will be off to the spin zone. As long as the ride is going straight when you pull into a spinout, you will not go careening into a car or the curb.
It also seems like the larger the rider is and the faster they are going, the harder the spin will be. The Green Monster by Huffy has brought back some great childhood memories for me, while providing a safer option than I had growing up for the boys. Just be careful going down particularly steep hills, as it seems no one ever learns to break while riding this, stopping rather by spinning out. Keep your head on straight and this can be an enjoyable ride for anyone as they grow up or enjoy their childhood again.
